Micah Vanderhoof has had a strong start to his junior season for the MLC Knights XC team. Micah, pictured here at the St. Olaf Invitational earlier this month, closed out his sophomore season with a PR in the 8k at 30:39. Micah has been rounding in to shape this year and been scoring points for his team.
Apparently, cross country hasn't been thrilling enough for Mr. Vanderhoof, so he's taken to doing a little rock climbing on the side. Pictured here, Micah is scaling the heights as part of a class he's auditing.
After a slow start sophomore Alyssa Vanderhoof and her doubles partner got their fist varsity win in a 6-3, 6-4 victory over New London. They followed that up with a second place finish at a tournament in Kaukauna. Later on in the season they took care of business with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in Marinette.Â
As reported here last issue, Natalie Vanderhoof made a position switch to defense and has adjusted quite well, playing in the back row for JV1 foxes volleyball. After a loss to non conference Bay Port the foxes are clicking on all cylinders. They are undefeated in conference and are playing with a lot of confidence. They placed 3rd in a tournament at KML recently. During the weekend Natalie played the libero position and again in a terrific match against rival Xavier. Fantastic play from both teams led to an entertaining match with FVL pulling out the victory 2-1.
Hannah Vanderhoof's Lakeside VB iteam is now 3-3 in conference. Due to injuries, Hannah had been asked to play multiple positions but has settled in as a middle hitter.
As a good middle hitter should do, Hannah leads her team in blocks this season, as well as staged volleyball proposals.
Madelyn is still prepping for the upcoming track season, but also did a few runs with her cross country friends and roommate this past summer.
The Trinity Lutheran soccer program is looking strong these days. The neon green/yellow team went undefeated last weekend, buoyed by the fearsome netplay of goalkeeper Willis Horn. Horn made the move to defense after observing "the coach never taught me offense".
While the pink team didn't fare as well last weekend (we blame the coach), the team bounced back from a rough tournament last weekend and picked up a win this morning. In unrelated news, Coach Jaclyn Keller's future will be decided in the offseason.
While we don't have any pictures, the OTHER Coach Keller's Brillion Lions football team picked up a win vs. Roncalli Friday night to move their record to 5-1. Unnamed sources reveal the team's secret weapon is the "high quality H2O they receive from ballboy Griffin Keller.
We've also heard that the Team Keller coaching tree may be branching out as Ella has been rumored to continue her volleyball career...stay tuned.
Gwen Simmons continues to prepare for exploring her need for speed. Recently she did some recon work about a karting career by taking in a local race. Through some connections made that afternoon, she'll be working with Franklin Motorsports to do some track work in the near future.
