Griffin Keller has been a whirlwind of energy this fall. Perhaps inspired by a few of his older cousins, Griffin decided to give Cross Country a shot this year. Griffin put in a strong effort in multiple races for the Trinity Tigers, as seen here on the left. I believe this is what is referred to as the "runner's high". It's been alleged that Griffin was quoted as saying after his first race "Well, I'm never doing THAT again!". Rumor has it that Griffin did indeed attempt another race.
With the XC season over, Griffin exchanged his running shoes for high-tops as he hits the court for his 2025 basketball season. Griffin is playing for not one, but two teams this year. The Trinity Tigers season will tip-off in a few weeks, but the Brillion Lions squad he's a part of has gotten off to a fast start as they've notched a 3-1 record to start the season. Not surprisingly, a coach's kid does all the little things well. Griffin is a tenacious defender who rebounds, distributes, communicates well, protects the ball, and above all else has a motor.
Henry David Thoreau once said "Success usually comes to those who are too busy to look for it". Griffin, wise beyond his years, clearly adheres to this philosophy. In addition to a full basketball schedule, Griffin is still pursuing his black belt in karate. He is now through 4 of the 10 needed stripes in his black belt journey. We're looking forward to more updates as he is targeting a March '26 Black Belt Graduation!
One final note on Team Keller, Laney will be lacing up her hightops for the Trinity Tigers as well in a few weeks. The Post Pattern offers this advice to Laney as she begins the season...Shoot when you're hot, and shoot to get hot!
Current Al's Pals defending champion Willis Horn has been itching to get back out on the ice (literally...have you ever worn a cast for a broken arm?). Hockey is in full swing now as Willis has laced up his skates for the Appleton Jets. Willis put this training to good use as the Jets are rumored to be 4-0. Our hockey reporter is still learning the sport, so we don't have any stats yet on how many minutes Horn has spent in the penalty box, or how many opponents he's sent crashing into the boards.
Programing Note...If you're looking for a date night with your significant other, come spend Valentine's Day with Willis in Fond Du Lac for a guaranteed wonderful memory!
Jack Wilma has wrapped up his football season and now has resumed his basketabll career. Jack and the rest of his 5th grade Shakopee teammates (and coaches) were fortunate enough to get in a scrimmage at the Target Center - home of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
No word is Ant shared a few tips with Jack, but we're excited to hear how his season unfolds this year. Good luck Jack!
Alyssa Vanderhoof finished her tennis season with a very strong 3rd place finish regionals and then winning the first round at subsectionals. She had a great time in her first season on varsity and is already looking forward to next year.
Natalie and the JV1 volleyball team had a fantastic season. The team's only conference loss came against Xavier, with whom they split their two contests during the season. Natalie did an excellent job throughout the season and her consistency as a server was key down the stretch for the program. Club volleyball practices are now underway for Natalie.
Both Natalie and Alyssa have turned their focus to the FVL musical. They went through a competitive week of tryouts, auditioning along with 60 kids. FVL will be performing Newsies and in a shocking twist of fate the dynamic duo were cast as twins for the show. Shocking!
Madelyn Vanderhoof is continuing to train for the upcoming indoor track season. In addition to the training, Madelyn is a representative on the WLC Student Athletic Advisory Committee. Best of luck to you on the upcoming season Madelyn!
A few weeks ago, Noelle Vanderhoof as part of Martin Luther College Forum's phenomenal presentation of Little Women. Noelle was in the dance ensmeble. If anyone is interested in seeing the performance you can watch a livestream online (for a fee) by clicking here
Hannah and the JV1 Warriors basketball season is also underway. After "winning" both games during their scrimmage day. the Warriors have dropped their first two official contests against strong competition. Hannah is off to a hot shooting start, hitting 6 of 11 three point attempts for a 55% clip (Delaney, take notes!)
This week we also have a first in the Buboltz Kids Sports Update. Until now, we've never shared a research project from one of our clan. That changes today!
Sadie Buboltz-Dubs and one of her students presented on the topic "A Comparison of Dry Needling and Static Stretching on Measure of Hamstring Extensibility". Seems like a topic that the Packers could benefit from exploring! Nice work Sadie!
